About Louise

Born a Plant, and living the herbal dream.

For more than thirty years I have grown, taught, and lived herbal medicine, on an off-grid farm in the Northern Rivers of New South Wales.

I am Louise Plant, a naturopath, master herbalist and teacher. I have spent my life learning the old ways of plant medicine and passing them on, because I believe that ordinary people can take real care of themselves and their families with herbs, food, and a little knowledge.

I have written herbal course content for colleges and universities across Australia and taught in most states of the country. For twenty-eight years I ran a herbal consultancy, specialising in growing herbs, herb botany, and herbal manufacturing. I grow my herbs organically and biodynamically, giving that connection to the earth to everything I make and teach.

Teaching from the ground up

Over the years I grew disheartened watching herbal teaching get thinner and thinner, with fewer herbs, less depth, and the heart taken out of holistic health. So I chose to go it alone and offer Home Herbalism to everyone who is ready to take their health and wellbeing into their own hands.

My qualifications sit quietly behind the work: a Bachelor of Natural Science, postgraduate qualifications in higher education, and diplomas across many complementary modalities. But what matters more is the growing, the making, and the teaching, done by hand, season after season.
